What a day! This past Saturday, 13 July 2024, saw the brave and the bold gathering at New Salt Rock City, KZN, for Virgin Active Warrior #3. The energy was electric, the atmosphere charged with anticipation, and the Warrior spirit was palpable from the get-go.
The Battlefield
New Salt Rock City was transformed into a warrior’s playground, where warriors of all calibres came to test their mettle. The course presented a challenging array of obstacles across the unexpectedly hilly terrain. Each obstacle was designed to test participants’ physical and mental limits while ensuring maximum fun!
With over 500 metres of elevation, this course was tough! From the muddy trenches of Mud Monster to the towering walls of the Mamba, to the various carries, every challenge demanded grit, determination, and a whole lot of heart!
The Warriors
Our athletes showed up in full force, heads held high, embodying the very essence of bravery. With each obstacle, they faced uncertainty and fear head-on, refusing to back down. Whether first-timers or seasoned veterans, everyone gave it their all, never once leaving a soldier behind.
Elite Race
The Black-Ops Elite race was a nail-biter and a true test of strength and character. After being led by local athletes Brandon Hulley and Claude Eksteen for most of the race, it all came down to Breaking Point. Where the race leaders failed, Justin Landsberg refused to break, surging faultlessly through Breaking Point and Commando Killer to claim his second Black-Ops Elite win to date, followed by Hlelani Radebe in second, and Claude Eksteen in third.
Dominating from start to finish, Sabrina Daolio calmly clinches the Black-Ops Elite Women’s win. In a battle for second and third, Lisha Sookan and Nicole Von Metzinger, unfortunately, both missed the Elite finish requirements, allowing Candice Clarke to come from behind to place 2nd.
