Oktoberfest meets Virgin Active Warrior Race
On 1 October 2022, thousands of brave Warriors toed the start line of what would be the first Warrior Race under the banner of our new title sponsor, Virgin Active! And what a journey it has been already, with Virgin Active on board. The Virgin Active Train Warrior initiative had Warriors download their training programme and train consistently and purposefully toward realising their obstacle course racing (OCR) dreams!
Race day dawned bright and beautiful in the highveld, and, as usual, Warrior Ric, with the help of Warrior Ceri, had every Warrior amped and motivated to get out there and run, crawl, jump, carry and push their way through a world-class obstacle course. If you were wondering who the guy on the mike was at the start, welcome Warrior Ceri!
The course was flat and fast, and to make up for the flat terrain, we had to rethink the obstacles to make it more challenging for our Warriors. Laid out around the beautiful Prime View dam the many water obstacles made this race delightful and fun.
Watching our Elite athletes achieve amazing feats of strength, grit, and endurance while powering their way through the Rookie, Commando and Black-Ops courses, was incredible.

Well done on facing the height of The Tower and plunging into the muddy waters below! You did it! Victory belongs to each of you, whether you took home a medal or not. You earned that dog tag!

Thank you to all Warriors for stepping up and dressing up! We loved your Oktoberfest outfits. You guys really brought the vibe! Add to that the fantastic Dodo Nyoka and Tian Nienaber jamming away on stage all afternoon as the Warriors completed their respective races. No oompah band here.
